I'm a user of ArchLinux, a lightweight and flexible Linux distribution that tries to "Keep It Simple". To complement the official package repositories, a supplementary repository exists for the public to create and maintain their own packages. This is called the Arch User Repository (AUR). The AUR allows users to add lesser-known packages that are not widely used enough to warrant maintenance time from an official developer, create spin-off packages of packages in the official repositories, etc.
